Spring is’ bursting’ out all over! After such a long wet winter let’s hope it will be a beautiful one. We are hoping for fine weather for the SWWAG Plant and Craft Fair at Wyken on Sunday 19th April. Please come and support this fundraising event in this lovely setting. It is especially important to us this year as we have exciting plans to increase the acreage of Sid’s Piece.
Nationally and locally places left for nature are getting less and less, due to development in various ways. From now into the summer we do less maintenance work at Sid’s Piece, to give birds and animals peace and quiet to nest and bring up their young. However, we have been working over the winter, coppicing fast growing willow and you will see, if you go up there, our beautifully staked and laid piece of hedge. We have also put up a second owl box which Steve Aspinall kindly made for us.
