"Celebrating Gardening and Country Crafts" : 10am - 4pm on 28th April 2013 at Wyken Vineyards, Stanton, Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk. IP31 2DW.
See our News page for a report on this successful event!
As the first hazels, oaks and maples planted at the Community Wood, "Sid's Piece", in Stanton move into their 6th year, they are starting to resemble trees rather than saplings, inspiring thoughts of the rural crafts the woodland may be able to support in the future. With several accomplished craftspeople and a shared appreciation of traditional skills among the Steering Group, we have decided to expand the scope of our popular fund-raising Plant Fair.
With the kind support of Sir Kenneth and Lady Carlisle, who have offered the gardens at Wyken Hall as a beautiful setting for craft stalls and demonstrations, we are excited to announce the first ”Celebrating Gardening and Country Crafts” event.
The wide range of East Anglian nurseries and growers that visitors have become used to seeing at SWWAG Plant Fairs in previous years will be present as usual, offering the opportunity to buy many varieties of plants, including trees for small gardens, fruit bushes, herbaceous, and cottage garden plants. A special feature on this day will be a guided introduction to the gardens, morning and afternoon.
Sir Kenneth and Lady Carlisle, owners of Wyken Vineyards, have been strong supporters of SWWAG since its formation and have generously provided the venue for our fund-raising events for the past seven years. The restaurant at Wyken Vineyards, “The Leaping Hare”, and the Country Store will be open as usual on the day of the event, as will the walk through an area of ancient woodland.
