Amid all the manmade upheavals in the world today, the joyous rhythm of nature plays on!
In Stanton we are lucky to have a variety of habitats, being on the very edge of the sandy soils of Breckland on the Bury side and the more clay subsoils towards Diss. Many of us have walked up Bury Lane to see, and smell, the bluebells in the ancient woodlands there, the best that I have ever seen them. In a more southerly direction, walking up Packclose Lane, the magenta coloured early purple orchids have put on a good display. To complete the rainbow the verges have been glowing with cowslips, with creamy cow parsley hard on their heels. The cuckoo has been about too.
As a group we were so lucky to have a beautiful sunny day for our Wyken Plant & Craft Fair and this helped to make it an all-round success; we hope for stall holders also. Wyken Hall Garden looked beautiful and many visitors said how much they enjoyed the garden tour led by Sir Kenneth. We are so grateful to Sir Kenneth and Lady Carla for letting us hold this event at Wyken.
Stanton Woodland & Wildlife Action Group will be holding a brief AGM at Sid's Piece on Monday 20th June at 7:00pm, after which there will be a walk round the whole site. Everyone is very welcome. Come and have a look or tell us what you think of the area.
